Liberty Fest 2024 in Photos: a Celebration of Freedom and Community

On June 30, thousands of people descended on the parking lot of PlazAmericas Mall in Sharpstown to celebrate Liberty Fest. Here are some highlights through the lens of photojournalist Anna Gisler.
HPD came to show support, providing security and a spectacle to festivalgoers. The officers and their companions posed for pictures. It’s not often you see horses in the middle of Sharpstown!
Passersby turned their heads when they saw these colorful clowns. The clowns played games with kids and taught the crowd how to line dance.
The crowd cheered, taking photos and videos as four men performed the traditional Lion Dance.
METRO and Houston Christian University banded together to provide air-conditioned spaces for festivalgoers to escape the heat.
There was plenty to do at Liberty Fest, including bouncy houses, a climbing wall, and a train.
Among other officials, US Congressman Al Green (left) and HPD sergeant Jesus Robles (right) spoke at Liberty Fest.

Many people brought their furry friends to the festival, but these were the only two riding in style!
