Want your kids to explore, learn, and make friends this summer? There’s a lot to do right here in Sharpstown: summer day camps, pools, Vacation Bible Schools, LEGO Mania, arts, crafts, and more. In each category below, the options are arranged from cheapest to most expensive. (Hint—most of them are free.)

Enjoy exploring Sharpstown this summer—and don’t forget to enjoy time with your children.

Summer Day Camps

Prestige Learning Institute English Camp

Free camp that includes English language lessons, games, and crafts for children ages 5-12.

June 20-23, 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM

Houston Parks and Recreation Department Summer Enrichment Program

Children ages 6-13 participate in activities like crafts, health, nutrition, fitness, nature exploration, sports, and bird watching.

$30 per week (but free for qualifying families)

June 5 – August 11

Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM

Chinese Community Center Youth Summer Camp

Hands-on learning for children, including interactive, project-based classes in Math, English, Art, Science, PE, and Social Studies. May register for the whole summer or for individual weeks, even after June 5 (if space remains).

Registration: $30 per child

Tuition: $195 per week (if paid by the Friday before enrolled week); $205 per week (if payment made week of enrollment)

Optional Chinese language instruction: additional $40 per week

Houston Swim Club Sharpstown

Swimming lessons for children ages 4 months and up (as well as adults).

$20 to $90 per class, in addition to a $50 family registration fee per calendar year

Vacation Bible Schools

Free games, crafts, music, snacks, and Bible lessons for children ages 4-12. Theme is “Twists & Turns: Following Jesus Changes the Game (Psalm 25:4).”

Kids Craft, Henna Workshop, Family Storytime, and Magic Show at Walter Branch of Houston Public Library

Walter Neighborhood library offers several free children’s activities.

Kids Craft: children ages 5-10 can create projects to show off at home. The craft theme will be a surprise.

Tyess Korsmo, the Sharpener's editor-in-chief, moved to Sharpstown in 2019 to earn his Master of Liberal Arts at HCU, where he now teaches English and history. He also teaches English in a maximum-security prison.
