SW Houston Cooling Centers, Libraries, and Distribution Sites Open July 12

As ~875,000 Houston-area CenterPoint customers wait for electricity, the National Weather Service has issued yet another heat advisory for Houston, forecasting a heat index of up to 106 on Friday. If you're stuck in Southwest Houston without AC, food, or water, help is available. See below for a list of local cooling centers, food and water distribution centers, and libraries that are running and open to the public.
If you don’t have transportation, you can call 3-1-1 to request a free ride to an official cooling center, according to the City of Houston.
Pets are allowed at many official cooling centers, such as Bayland, but make sure to bring them in a crate or pet carrier.
