Where to Find Info on Houston Cooling and Distribution Centers Open July 13 and Onward

For the latest information on open cooling centers, libraries, and distribution sites, visit the new resource map created by the City of Houston's Office of Emergency Management.

Just click your area on the map to drop a pin, and then look at the list on the left side of the screen. It should say "COH Distribution Centers," "COH Cooling Centers," "HC Cooling Centers," "ARC Shelter Locations." Click on one of those categories, and you should see a list of centers in your area. Click on one of the centers, and you can view the address, hours, and any contact information.

As of the morning of 7/13/24, Bayland and Burnett-Bayland Community Centers are scheduled to be open Saturday, July 13, and Sunday, July 14. Several local libraries are scheduled to be open on Saturday but not Sunday.

According to a media release from District J, there is also a water distribution scheduled for July 13 at 10:00 AM at the Walmart on 9460 W. Sam Houston Parkway South, 77099. The event is supported by Houston Area Urban League, Heads Up Houston, Alief ISD, the Church Without Walls – Eldridge, District J CM Edward Pollard, District F CM Tiffany Thomas, Congressman Al Green, State Senator Boris Miles, State Representative Alma Allen, and County Attorney Chris Menefee.
